Have you ever noticed that most of the movies about aliens and invaders from space portray them as the enemy and that when humanity comes together to resist them, we win?

Well, there is coming a day when the nations of the earth will attempt this very thing. A great leader will arise on the earth who will be able to gather the nations to himself and call their armies together to defend against an invading army from the heavens.  This invading army will be led by a powerful leader, hated by most people on the earth.  But he will not be an alien, and his armies will not be clones or giant bugs bent on destroying humanity.

His name is Jesus, the Messiah, son of the Living the God.  He is the God-Man, born of Mary, who came 2000 years ago to reconcile humanity to God through his death on the cross.  After he rose from the dead, he returned to His Father God in heaven and in great mercy is longing to return for those who love Him and to remove all that hinders love between God and man. Upon His return he will easily destroy the earthly armies, defeat the one who leads them, establish His kingdom in Jerusalem, and rule the world as the only One who can do so in full righteousness and justice.

In Psalm 2, David wrote prophetically of this when he describes the nations raging against God, but God laughs and declares to them that He has set His Anointed One, Jesus on the throne in Jerusalem, on Mount Zion, promising the nations and the entire planet to His Son. It ends with a warning to the kings of the earth and indeed to us all:  Kiss the Son, lest He become angry and you perish from His wrath. For when He comes, he’s not coming as a baby in the manger, but as the Warrior Bridegroom King who will make all wrong things right, dispensing judgment on sin and all things evil, while taking a bride for Himself collectively from all those who love Him.
